Jeff Willars began a dedicated sixteen-year coaching career with Canadore College in 1982. In just his first year, the Panthers captured the OCAA overall team championship and the CCAA national men’s singles championship. During his lengthy career, Canadore teams brought home four CCAA National medals (one gold, three bronze), seven OCAA provincial gold medals, four silver medals and three bronze medals. In addition, the Panthers were presented with the OCAA Fair Play Award in 1998-99.

Willars was twice named the OCAA Coach of the Year and on both occasions was appointed to coach team OCAA at the national championships. In addition to his coaching career, Jeff Willars served one term as the OCAA badminton Convenor from 1996-97 to 1997-98.
