A native of Niagara Falls, Ontario, Lois Stoorza began her collegiate career at Niagara College in 1968. A rare two-sport athlete, Stoorza captained the women’s basketball team to a gold medal in 1968-69 and again 1969-70. She matched the basketball gold medal with a gold in volleyball in the same 1969-70 season. Lois was voted MVP of the basketball team in 1969-70 and 1971-72.
Stoorza left a legacy off the playing court by leading a group of women students that successfully lobbied for equal funding for women’s varsity athletics at Niagara College.
