The Sheridan Bruins won the OCAA Championship both years that Martin Johnson was a member of the team, and in 1985 they went on to win the National Championship. In 1985-86 Johnson led the Bruins in scoring with 13.2 points per game and 263 points, while being named to the OCAA first all-star team. At the nationals, Johnson was named to the Championship all-star team.

In 2000, he became a member of the OCAA Men’s Basketball All-Millennium team.
