Tom Peat was born in St. Catharines and was one of Niagara’s most accomplished athletes. He began his exceptional four-year collegiate career in 1983. He and teammate Mark Nelson were the first ever to win not only one but three consecutive CCAA National Badminton titles from 1983-87. Other accomplishments include one Western Ontario Junior Championship, three Eastern U.S.A. Junior Doubles Titles and one OFSSA Doubles Championship. He was also a three time Niagara Co-Athlete of the Year from 1984-86, three-time All Canadian from 1985-87, and received the Niagara College Award of Excellence. Tom was a member of the first group of athletes to be inducted into the Niagara Knights Hall of Fame when it was established in 1998.
