Wes Hicks’ involvement in the OCAA goes back to the formative years of the association. In 1969-70 Hicks took on the duties of Men’s Basketball Convenor, a position he held for two seasons. The following two seasons he moved to the Executive Committee where he was Vice-President while serving as Cross Country Running Convenor. He also took on the cross country running duties in 1978-79 and then tennis in 1979-80. In 1981-82 Hicks returned to the Executive Committee as Vice-President and Chair of the Ways and Means Committee.
Hicks was employed in various positions at Mohawk College including Athletic Director, and at one time was their men’s basketball coach for ten years. In 1989 the OCAA presented Hicks with a Shield Award, signifying his contributions to college sports.
