Salary Range: According to College policy (PE -820)
Hours per week: 24 hours
Location: Progress Campus
Role and Responsibilities:
Assess, prevent, and provide immediate care to student athletes participating in a varsity / extramural competition / practice.
Attends practices, home games, host tournaments and travels (as required) with teams to away competitions.
Consults with the Varsity Coordinator to ensure that the Emergency Action Plan is coordinated.
Coordinates the operation of the clinical treatment of student athletes.
Utilizes rehabilitative techniques, physical reconditioning, and supportive strapping procedures that promote optimal healing and a safe return to competitive play.
Schedules clinic hours of operation conducive to student athlete timetables and is responsible for the filing and security of student athlete confidential health information.
Responsible for the purchase and inventory control of all first aid and athletic therapy supplies and equipment.
Organizes, stocks and issues first aid kits to teams.
Coordinates the CCES (Canadian Centre for Ethics in Sport) anti doping education program and Ensures that all student athletes complete the certification program.
Coordinates the scheduling of additional field athletic therapists that are periodically required to provide services at Home competitions.
Ensures that the reporting procedures and care of student athletes is clarified and followed.
Provides services for special events such as Championship events and High School tournaments.
Qualifications/Experience:
A minimum of a three-year post-secondary degree/diploma in Kinesiology or Athletic Therapy combined with Canadian Athletic Therapist (CAT) certificate in good standing, as well as First Responder, CPR, AED.
Experience in a position requiring First Aid/CPR/AED response.
Ability to effectively communicate injury details, treatment and rehabilitation plan to medical Specialists and coaches and deal with student athletes in stressful / painful situations.
Excellent time management skills and multitask in an environment that has strict deadlines and numerous distractions.
Computer literate with a good understanding of MS word and excel applications.
Ability to work independently and as a team member.
Basic knowledge of sport competition rules.
Demonstrated interpersonal skills to deal effectively with staff and varied clients.
Demonstrated customer service and conflict resolution skills.
Experience, knowledge and understanding of working effectively in a diverse environment.
