March 6, 2010 - OCAA Badminton teams will be looking for an Olympic sized medal haul tomorrow when four Ontario teams will play in the championship medal rounds at the CCAA Badminton National Championships in Edmonton, Alberta.

On the men’s singles front, Timothy Chui has served notice to the national badminton scene on what Ontario has already known, this rookie can play. Chui has played his way into the gold medal game where he will take on Douglas College’s Shawn Zhang.

Jody Carruthers and Kayla Odorizzi of Cambrian College have had a stellar tournament in Women’s Doubles and will have a chance to play for nation gold when they take on Melody Liang and Stephanie Ko of Douglas College.

Former National Player of the Year Raymond Wong has teamed up with this year’s OCAA Player of the Year and the pair are on track for the top prize. The Humber College pair will face the Alberta wild card entry of Jake Perry and Grace Box from Concordia.

The St. Clair College Men’s Doubles Badminton team of Vuong Tran and Sam Lamoure lost their semi-final match against the entry from British Colombia’s Douglas College 21-9, 21-8 and will play for the National Bronze medal Saturday against the host school NAIT.

Valerie Breen of Boreal will play for the 5th and 6th positions in Women’s Singles competition. Breen will face off against Dianne Boudreau of Sainte Anne.
