HAMMOND, FIELDING NAMED OCAA VOLLEYBALL ATHLETES OF THE WEEK

Athletic Association (OCAA) volleyball student-athletes of the week
for the period ending Sunday, Nov. 6.
MALE: Mike Hammond, Georgian
Fifth-year middle Mike Hammond (Barrie, Ont.) led
Georgian to a 2-1 record to begin the 2011-12 regular season.
Hammond had a team-high 13 points, including a dozen kills, in a
3-0 (25-21, 25-22, 26-24) loss at Durham on Nov. 1. He added 21
points on 17 kills, two serving aces and two stuff blocks in a 3-0
(25-21, 25-18, 25-18) win against Cambrian on Nov. 5, then another
23 points on 17 kills, four stuff blocks and two serving aces in a
3-1 (20-25, 25-18, 25-23, 25-22) win over Boreal on Nov. 6.
FEMALE: Kelsey Fielding, Cambrian
Fourth-year athlete Kelsey Fielding (Sudbury,
Ont.) led Cambrian to a pair of road victories to open the 2011-12
regular season. Fielding had a 26-point effort, including 20 kills,
five serving aces and one stuff block in a 3-1 (29-27, 23-25,
25-20, 25-16) win over Seneca on Nov. 4. Fielding followed this up
with 24 kills and three serving aces totaling 27 points in a 3-2
(25-21, 22-25, 21-25, 25-21, 15-12) victory at Georgian on Nov.
