DURHAM 3, GEORGE BROWN 0 (FINAL)
TORONTO – The Durham College men's volleyball team earned their 20th overall win on Friday night as they swept the George Brown Huskies 3-0 in Toronto.
This marks the fourth straight season Durham has won at least 20 games.
P.J. Cornelius of London scored seven points in the win, bringing his career total to 501. Cornelius joins two of his teammates in the 500 club, as Dave McMann (Elmvale, Ont.) and Steve Clarey (Baltimore, Ont.) also reached the milestone mark in their careers.
McMann added to his OCAA single season blocking record on Friday as he recorded eight against the Huskies. The fifth year senior now has 201 career blocks and trails the OCAA all-time record holder Corey Cole (St. Clair) by just four. The Lords have one more game remaining in the regular season.
Dan Popovich (Pickering, Ont.) had a team-high 10 digs in the Lords victory while McMann finished with a game-high 17 points.
Mike DiCarlo led the Huskies in scoring with nine points.
Durham has a 14-5 conference record and have jumped into third place in the OCAA east region. The Lords sit two points ahead of Loyalist and Georgian in the standings who have matching 13-5 records.
The green and gold will close out their regular season in Barrie on Wednesday night as they take on the Georgian Grizzlies. A win will clinch Durham a home playoff game next weekend in the OCAA qualifying round.
