ST. CLAIR MOVES TO GOLD MEDAL GAME WITH 10-0 WIN OVER HUMBER
TECUMSEH, Ont. - St. Clair College (Windsor) defeated Humber College (Etobicoke) 10-0 in a mercy shortened game at the OCAA provincial championship tournament being held at Bert Lacasse Park in Tecumseh, Ont. The win puts the Saints in their fifth consecutive gold medal game with a chance to win the championship on their home diamond.
TECUMSEH, Ont. – St. Clair College (Windsor) defeated Humber College (Etobicoke) 10-0 in a mercy shortened game at the OCAA provincial championship tournament being held at Bert Lacasse Park in Tecumseh, Ont. The win puts the Saints in their fifth consecutive gold medal game with a chance to win the championship on their home diamond.
St. Clair took advantage of two Humber errors in the opening inning scoring three times and added another run in the second inning for a 4-0 lead. The Saints came back in the fourth inning to score five more runs and needed only a single run in the bottom of the fifth to put the game away.
St. Clair starter and OCAA League All-Star Taylor Pappin (Brantford) pitched five strong innings surrendering only two hits while striking out three Humber batters. The Saints pounded out 12 hits with Michael McKay (Miramichi, N.B.) collecting three of his own to go with four RBIs to earn Player of the Game honours. Matt Bondy (Amherstburg) also had two hits and three RBIs for St. Clair.
Humber's Justin Marra (Toronto) was named Player of the Game for Humber for his outstanding skill behind the dish.
St. Clair advances to the 1 p.m. game on Saturday awaiting the winner of the Fanshawe/Humber matchup being played at 10 a.m.
