ST. LAWRENCE HIRES NEW MANAGER OF ATHLETICS AND STUDENT LIFE
KINGSTON, Ont. - St. Lawrence College is pleased to announce the hiring of Herb Steacy as its new Tri-Campus Manager of Athletics and Student Life.
KINGSTON, Ont. – St. Lawrence College is pleased to announce the hiring of Herb Steacy as its new Tri-Campus Manager of Athletics and Student Life.
Steacy comes to SLC with an extensive background in athletics and recreation, business operations and project development.
Most recently Steacy served as the Associate Athletic Director
at Queen's University. He also worked at Queen's University's
School of Physical Health and Education, as the Chair of Facilities
and Services, from 2005 to 2007 and prior to that he was the
Manager of Operations, from 2003 to 2005. During his tenure at
Queen's, Steacy's accomplishments consisted of the development,
planning and implementation of many facility renewal projects
including the Queen's Centre, Tindall Field, New North Field and
Nixon Field.
Steacy is also a well-known person in the Kingston sports scene,
having coached rugby at St. Lawrence, Queen's, the Royal Military
College and at Kingston Collegiate and Vocational Institute. He is
also a Past President of the Kingston Rugby Club.
"Herb brings a wealth of experience and expertise to SLC," said
Wanda Williams, St. Lawrence College's Director of
Student Services. "With Herb's strong understanding of the balance
required between a successful student varsity athletic program, the
recreational needs of all students and the business demands to
operate a successful student life program within an academic
institution we are well positioned to build on the strong
foundation that has been developed over the past few years."
As SLC's Manager of Athletics and Student Life, Steacy will oversee
athletics, recreation and student life programs at St. Lawrence's
three campuses in Kingston, Brockville and Cornwall. That includes
more than 20 varsity or extramural sports teams.
Steacy officially begins his new position at St. Lawrence on April
9. He is replacing Brad Greenwood who accepted a
full-time teaching position with the college in December, 2011.
