TORONTO - The following have been named Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) student-athletes of the week for the period ending Sunday, March 25.
TORONTO - The following have been named Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) student-athletes of the week for the period ending Sunday, March 25.
MALE: Mario Orestano, Humber, Men's Indoor Soccer
Mario Orestano (Woodbridge, Ont.) was named tournament most valuable player at the OCAA Men's Indoor Soccer Championship for the second straight season. The OCAA outdoor soccer all-star led his Humber teammates to an overall record of 4-0-1 at the championship, including a 3-0 victory over Seneca in the gold medal match. Humber has won back-to-back men's indoor championships and three titles in the past four seasons. Overall, Humber has won 12 men's indoor titles since 1995.
FEMALE: Kat Conde, Humber, Women's Indoor Soccer
Humber goalkeeper Kat Conde (Toronto) was named tournament most valuable player at the OCAA Women's Indoor Soccer Championship. Conde led her teammates to an overall record of 4-0-1, including a 4-0 victory over Seneca in the gold medal match. Conde was the last line of defence during the semi-finals when Humber required penalty kicks to defeat Durham 2-1. Humber has won consecutive women's indoor soccer championships, and three titles in the past four seasons.
