SENECA 96, CANADORE 82
NORTH YORK, Ont. - Faced with the realization that another loss would mean a .500 record, the Seneca Sting received key contributions from all 12 players Saturday night to earn a 96-82 victory over the Canadore Panthers.
Leading the way for the Sting was 2012-13 CCAA all-Canadian and OCAA player of the year Felix Adjei (Toronto). The fourth-year shooting guard took control of the offence, dishing the ball to teammates and taking shots when open. The result was a 24 point, six assist, four rebound, six steal and two block night. All but the four rebounds led the team.
The opening minutes of the first quarter saw the teams exchange the lead three times. Tied at 10, the Sting went on an 8-0 to take the lead they would not relinquish. Calmar Morgan (Scarborough) led the Sting in the opening quarter with eight points.
An 8-0 and 7-0 run in the second quarter helped Seneca open up a double-digit lead. Adjei had his best offensive output of the game, scoring nine of the Sting's 26 points. At the half, Seneca held a 49-34 advantage.
Seneca continued to roll a full line-up throughout the game, keeping players fresh at all times. The pressure caused the Panthers to commit 37 turnovers.
The playing time proved beneficial for the young Sting team as 11 of the 12 players scored a basket including four scoring in double figures including 16 each from newcomers Malcolm Smith (Toronto) and Elijah Brown (Scarborough)
Morgan finished the game with 14 points and four assists. Smith was the top rebounder with seven while also adding three assists. Tevin Doogridge (Montreal) added eight points and three steals.
The Sting will host the Georgian Grizzlies on Tuesday at 8 p.m. while the Panthers travel to Georgian Sunday at 2 p.m.

NORTH YORK, Ont. - The Canadore Panthers men's varsity basketball team played a strong Seneca Sting team in Toronto today and lost by 14 points.
Canadore's top scorer was Tarez Hepburn with 24 points and 11 rebounds.
The player of the game award was given to Joey Puddister, as he played well and ended up with 16 points. He posted some good defence and did his job, explained Canadore head coach Stacy Gallagher.
After the game, Gallagher explained what he thought went wrong in the game. "We gave up too many, turning over 37 times and Seneca took full advantage of that opportunity and scored points. We did a good job rebounding but in the end, they hit shots and we didn't, which is what it all comes down to."
