Sunday, Feb. 5.
Georgian Men's Basketball
The Georgian Grizzlies are on their longest win streak of the
season having won four straight as they moved closer to clinching a
post-season berth in the OCAA East region. Georgian (10-6)
currently sits third in the standings after road victories at
Durham (74-73) on Feb. 3 and Fleming-Peterborough (87-77) on Feb.
4. Second-year forward Shane Rowe (Barrie, Ont.)
scored a combined 44 points and 34 rebounds in both games. Rowe is
averaging 22.7 points in 10 games.
Algoma Women's Basketball
The Algoma Thunderbirds have taken over first place in the OCAA
West region after an impressive 87-48 win over Fanshawe on Feb. 5.
First-year guard Corina Bruni (Sault Ste. Marie,
Ont.) led all players with 24 points while adding seven assists.
Fanshawe's only two losses of the regular season have come against
Algoma (13-2). Algoma has already clinched a post-season berth, but
is eyeing a top-two finish to earn an automatic spot at the OCAA
championship tournament.
