MOTA, TUMANQUIL NAMED OCAA ATHLETES OF THE WEEK

Athletic Association (OCAA) student-athletes of the week for the
period ending Sunday, Oct. 16.
MALE: Jose Bruno Mota, La Cite, Men's
Soccer
La Cite's Jose Bruno Mota scored four goals in two
games, including a hat trick in a 3-1 win at Durham on Oct 15. Mota
added another goal the following day in a 3-3 tie at Seneca. Mota
has scored 10 goals in five matches this season, and with two
matches to go, should have a lock on another scoring championship.
Mota scored 14 goals last season.
FEMALE: Maryann Tumanquil, Seneca, Women's
Fastball
Maryann Tumanquil pitched her Seneca teammates
into the OCAA championship tournament with an impressive 11-1 win
over Conestoga on Oct. 16. Tumanquil allowed one unearned run on
three hits and one walk while striking out six. Tumanquil pitched
in three games in the span of two days, earning two wins and
striking out a total of 11 batters. Seneca (6-4) will be the third
seed at the OCAA championship.
