CORD, BELL NAMED OCAA ATHLETES OF THE WEEK
TORONTO - The following have been named Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) student-athletes of the week for the period ending Sunday, Oct. 23.
TORONTO - The following have been named Ontario Colleges
Athletic Association (OCAA) student-athletes of the week for the
period ending Sunday, Oct. 23.
MALE: Adrian Cord, Humber, Golf
Adrian Cord of Humber won the Canadian Collegiate
Athletic Association (CCAA) men's individual golf championship on
Oct. 21, holding off teammate Mark Hoffman for a two-stroke
victory. Cord finished the rain-shortened 36-hole tournament at
two-under par. Cord is a two-time OCAA silver medalist, and last
year's CCAA bronze medalist. Humber also won the CCAA men's team
championship.
FEMALE: Brittany Bell, Durham, Women's
Fastball
Brittany Bell (New Hamburg, Ont.) was named OCAA
Women's Fastball Championship most valuable player, lifting Durham
to a second straight provincial title. The first-year shortstop had
a .714 batting average for the tournament, and was 2-for-3 in the
gold medal game against Humber, scoring two runs. Durham defeated
Humber 7-1. It marks Durham's 16th OCAA banner in women's
fastball.
