OCAA TEAMS OF THE WEEK

TORONTO - The following have been named Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) Teams of the Week for the period ending Sunday, Nov. 27.

Algonquin Men's Volleyball

The Algonquin Thunder earned two road victories this past week, defeating Seneca 3-1 (25-16, 23-25, 25-18, 25-21) on Nov. 25 followed by a 3-0 (25-21, 25-16, 25-18) win at Georgian on Nov. 26. Third-year right side Mike Adams (Barrie, Ont.) combined for 28 kills in both matches. Algonquin improved to 8-0 in the OCAA East region, having only lost one set all season.

Algoma Women's Basketball

The Algoma Thunderbirds have shot up the OCAA West region standings, handing Fanshawe its first loss of the regular season on Nov. 26. Algoma won at Fanshawe 63-50 on the strength of Corina Burni's 29 points. Algoma won 55-31 at Mohawk the day before. Algoma improved to 6-2 on the year, with a perfect road record of 4-0. Algoma, Fanshawe and Sheridan all have six wins on top of the West region.
