TORONTO - A look at stats and figures from around the Ontario
Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA).
0 - Number of 2011-12 regular season losses by
Seneca (8-0) in women's basketball; Algonquin (10-0) and Nipissing
(9-0) in men's volleyball; and Cambrian (10-0) and Humber (9-0) in
women's volleyball. All five undefeated teams, along with the rest
of the OCAA, will resume regular season play in January.
304 - Single season points record in OCAA men's
volleyball set in 2000-01 by Seneca's Kanitha
Boranprasit. With half of the 2011-12 regular season in
the books, La Cite second-year player Keith Marier
(Ottawa) and Humber third-year player Terrel
Bramwell (Mississauga, Ont.) are on pace to demolish the
milestone. Marier leads the OCAA with 196 points, followed closely
by Bramwell's 187.
24.2 - Average number of points scored by Mohawk
fifth-year guard Aminu Bello (Hamilton, Ont.) per
game in OCAA men's basketball during the 2011-12 regular season.
Bello leads all of OCAA in points per game average and total
points. He is the only player to surpass 200 points, with 218 to
his credit.
2 - Number of Cambrian women's volleyball players
that top the OCAA leaders in points per set. Shawna
Metcalf (Azilda, Ont.) currently leads the OCAA averaging
4.7 points per set, just ahead of teammate Kelsey
Fielding (Sudbury, Ont.) who has a 4.5 average. Only four
OCAA players are averaging 4.0 points or better.
913 - Number of career points scored by Durham
fifth-year guard Erin Emery (White Rock, B.C.) in
OCAA women's basketball. The all-time school leader in career
points, Emery is just the fifth OCAA player to surpass 900 points.
If Emery averages 10.9 points in her final eight regular season
games, she will become just the third OCAA player to break the
1,000-point barrier.
1 - Number of sets lost by Algonquin in men's
volleyball so far during 2011-12 OCAA regular season play. The
Thunder have won 30 of the 31 sets it played in the fall semester.
Three Algonquin players are averaging better than 3.0 offensive
points per set, including Mike Adams (Barrie,
Ont.), Alexandre Corsi Caya (Ottawa) and
Joshua Harris (Kitchener, Ont.).
10 - Number of OCAA men's basketball teams with
six or more regular season wins in 2011-12. Six of these teams
reside in the OCAA West region, with one win separating the top
three teams (Fanshawe, Humber and Niagara at 7-2) from the next
three (Algoma, Mohawk and Sheridan at 6-3). Centennial (9-1),
Algonquin (8-2), George Brown (7-3) and St. Lawrence-Kingston (6-4)
make up the top four teams in the OCAA East region.
7 - Number of OCAA championships won by Humber
during the 2011-12 fall semester. Humber repeated as provincial
