OSHAWA, Ont. – The Durham College men's soccer team suffered their fourth loss of the season on Tuesday night as they dropped a 4-1 decision to the Centennial Colts.
EJ Powell opened scoring with two goals at the 15 and 23 minute mark to give the Colts a 2-0 lead going into halftime.
Durham's Sebastian Dignoti (Whitby, Ont.) scored a highlight reel goal off a free kick five minutes into the second half to cut the Centennial lead to one. This was Durham's first conference goal this season.
After turning up the pressure over the next 15 minutes, it looked as if Durham's hard work had paid off as Kevin McMullen (Oshawa, Ont.) scored to tie the game up. After a brief celebration, his goal was called back with the referee calling a foul.
Momentum seemed to switch sides at this point as Centennial's Trevor Samuels scored during the 70th minute, and Powell finished off his hat-trick at the 72 minute mark.
The Lords fall to 0-4-1 and are tied for last place in the East Region with the George Brown Huskies. The Colts are 2-3-0 and tied for third place.
Durham is back in action on Saturday, October 15 against the La Cite Coyotes (3-0-0). Kick-off at Vaso's Field is 4 p.m.
