The St. Clair College men's soccer team suffered a tough loss on Thursday afternoon to the Conestoga Condors by a score of 2-1.
The Saints had won 3 games in a row and a win over the Condors would have secured a playoff spot. However, now with one game remaining on Sunday at Niagara College the Saints must win that game and then get some help to make the playoffs. Unfortunately for St. Clair, due to the OPSEU support staff strike and having to extend the length of the season, only 4 teams qualify for the playoffs instead of 6 during a normal season. The OCAA West Division is one of the tightest it has been in recent years.
St. Clair went up early on a goal by Rob Malbasic. The Saints had several quality chances in the first half to go up by a goal or two but could not finish their chances. Conestoga scored two goals early in the second half to take the lead and St. Clair pushed hard to tie the match but could not get one by the Conestoga keeper.
