The St. Clair College men's varsity soccer team kept their playoff hopes alive with a convincing 7-2 win over the Niagara College Knights on Sunday afternoon in Welland.
Rob Malbasic, playing in possibly his last game as a Saint, led the way for St. Clair with 3 goals. Brian Santos added 2 goals while singles went the Jordan Lidia and Sal Fregapan.
With the win, the Saints ended their regular season with a record of 4-4. St. Clair must now wait for the results of the remaining games to be completed on Tuesday and Wednesday to determine if they can sneak into the playoffs. St. Clair is currently in third place in the OCAA West Division. Only the top 4 teams make the playoffs this season due to the OPSEU support staff strike earlier in the semester. Normally the top 6 teams qualify for the playoffs.
