DURHAM 3, GEORGE BROWN 0 (FINAL)
OSHAWA, Ont. – The No. 8 ranked Durham College men's volleyball team made quick work of the George Brown Huskies on Tuesday night as they came away with a 3-0 victory. Set scores were 25-15, 25-20 and 25-22.
It was a rebound victory for the green and gold as the win came off the heels of a 3-0 loss to the undefeated Loyalist Lancers.
Veterans David McMann (Elmvale, Ont.) and Jeremy Hoekstra (Cobourg, Ont.) were the top scorers for Durham as they recorded 11 and 8 points respectively. George Brown could not find a way to get any offence around McMann as the Lords senior had eight stuff blocks, five short of the OCAA single game record.
McMann has 123 career blocks, 13 behind Brad Douwes who sits fifth in OCAA all-time blocking with 136.
On the defensive end, Hoekstra had a big game as he registered five digs for Durham.
Mike DiCarlo was the Huskies leading scorer with 12 points.
Trailing 19-16 in the third set, Durham stormed back after a timeout to clinch the sweep with an 25-22 victory.
Durham is 3-1 on the year and one game out of first place in the OCAA east region. George Brown is 1-4 and have suffered four straight losses.
Durham will head to Sudbury this weekend for back-to-back road games against Boreal (Saturday) and Cambrian (Sunday).
The Lords next home game is on Thursday, November 24 against the Trent Excalibur. Game time at the CRWC is at 8 p.m. following the women's match.
