The Niagara College Knights women's volleyball team defeated the Mohawk College Mountaineers 3-2 (22-25, 25-23, 18-25, 26-24, 15-9), while the Knights men's team were shutout 3-0 (25-19, 25-20, 25-21) by their Hamilton rivals.
The Knights men's team were shutout for the fourth time this season. They head into the break with a 3-6 record and seventh place in the OCAA West region standings.
Mohawk had three players reach double-digits in scoring. Justin Scapinello (London, Ont.) led the Mountaineers with 18 points, while Ian Cameron (Hamilton, Ont.) and Philip Youngblut (London, Ont.) had 11 and 10 points respectively.
Both teams will resume their 2011-2012 regular season on Wednesday, Jan. 11 when they travel to London, Ont., to take on the Fanshawe College Falcons. The women's game is at 6 p.m. with the men's game to follow at 8 p.m.
