TORONTO – The Durham College women's basketball team could not hold on to a fourth quarter lead as Humber came up with a 64-48 win, eliminating the Lords from the postseason.
Durham led 46-41 heading into the final quarter, but were outscored 23-2 over the final ten minutes as the Hawks advanced to the OCAA championship.
The Lords did a good job of slowing down a red hot Hawks squad for three quarters, who entered the match on a seven-game winning streak. In the fourth quarter, Humber's shooters heated up as they seemed to hit every shot they took.
Jordana Mazzei went 4-for-11 from beyond the arc for a team high 12 points for the Hawks.
Playing in her final game for Durham College, Erin Emery of North Bay scored 20 points and four steals in over 37 minutes of play.
Kelsey Hare (Whitby, Ont.) had 13 points for Durham and freshman Keriann Sullivan had eight points and five rebounds.
Rebounds were a big factor in the outcome of the match as Humber had 24 offensive boards, compared to just seven for the Lords.
The marks the fifth time in six years Durham has advanced to the OCAA playoffs but have failed to qualify for the OCAA championship.
