OSHAWA, Ont. – The Durham College women's volleyball team showed a lot of promise on Tuesday night in their home opener against a tough Georgian squad but were unable to pick up a set victory as they were swept 3-0.
OSHAWA, Ont. – The Durham College women's volleyball team showed a lot of promise on Tuesday night in their home opener against a tough Georgian squad but were unable to pick up a set victory as they were swept 3-0.
Set scores in the match were 25-21, 25-23 and 25-18.
It was the opening match for both teams, as the game at the CRWC kicked off the OCAA women's volleyball regular season.
Ashley Mulholland of the Lords had a team high eight-point performance, recording seven kils and one block. Teammates Nicole Riedstra and Laura Plahuta had five points apiece.
OCAA women's soccer scoring champion Jenn Sheehan had 14 digs in the loss, as she made her 2011-12 volleyball debut.
Middle Hannah Campbell led the Grizzlies in scoring with 16 points including five blocks. Bailee Yasher also had 11 points including two blocks.
Durham's next game is scheduled for Friday, November 4 against the Fleming Knights. First serve at the CRWC is 6 p.m.
