The St. Clair College men's and women's volleyball teams opened their OCAA home schedule on Friday night against the top ranked Nipissing Lakers on a tough note.
In the women's match, the Saints lost by a score of 3-0. Game scores were 25-12, 25-23, and 25-16. St. Clair was led by Kate Zawyrucha with 7 kills, 1 stuff block, and 12 digs. Deanna Harris also had a solid match with 4 kills, 2 service aces, 1 stuff block and 8 digs.
The Saints are now 1-1 on the season. Nipissing moved to 3-0 and are the 2nd ranked team in Ontario and 11th in Canada.
The Saints are next in action when they host the Canadore Panthers on Sunday afternoon. The women play at 1 p.m. and the men at 3 p.m.
