PETERBOROUGH, Ont. - It was straight sets win for the Trent varsity women's volleyball team, and a heartbreaking 3-2 loss for the varsity men's teams, as both squads played a rare Tuesday evening contest against the George Brown Huskies.
The Excalibur women improved to 8-2 win their win and sit in second place in the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association East division as they head into the exam break.
Sarah MacLaren (Renfrew, Ont.) led the way for Trent as they downed the visiting Huskies by scores of 25-17, 25-12 and 25-19. MacLaren tallied 11 points on six kills, one ace and four blocks. Excalibur veteran setter Hayley Hancock (Barrie, Ont.) had one kill, five aces and three blocks for nine points, while Sara Rettie chipped in eight kills in the win.
Both teams are now off until the new year. The Excalibur will open up the second half of the season hosting cross-town rivals, the Fleming Knights. The games will take place on January 11 with the women beginning at 6 pm and the men following at 8 pm.
