LOYALIST WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL HEAD COACH STEPS DOWN

BELLEVILLE, Ont. - After several successful years with the Loyalist College Lady Lancers volleyball team, head coach Tony Clarke has made the decision to step down from the position.
 
"Tony has been a Lancer through and through for a very long time, first as a player then as the head coach of our women's program," said Jim Buck, Manager of Athletics and Campus Recreation at Loyalist College. "His passion for the game of volleyball is second to none. He worked hard to make our program competitive and success was always a constant with Tony at the helm. He was an outstanding recruiter and represented Loyalist with class and dignity. His knowledge for the sport of volleyball and his compassion for our student athletes has been appreciated. We wish him nothing but the best."
 
With 300 regular season wins to his name, Coach Clarke's dedication to his athletes and the College has been impressive. During his time at Loyalist he was named OCAA East Division Coach of the Year in 2008-09 and has coached the Lancers to multiple OCAA championship tournaments - including one top four finish in 2008-09. He boasts a reputable 300-169 record in regular season games, 10 league all-star athletes and five academic all-Canadians.

Coach Clarke's commitment, knowledge and passion for the game has had a lasting effect on the many young women that have had the privilege of playing for him and will be greatly missed by all.
 
Loyalist College Athletics has a longstanding tradition of excellence within the Ontario College Athletic Association.
