HUMBER BADMINTON PLAYERS STRIKE GOLD AT 2026 NATIONALS
Timothy Lock (Humber) continued his strong tournament by winning CCAA men's singles gold medal after dispatching Arpi Sinha (Fanshawe) 21-13, 21-10.
Mixed Doubles
The bronze medal match kicked off the day's action featuring Mataia Wong and Davis Wong (SAIT) against Alyssa Iran and Anthony Tso (Seneca College). After dropping the opening game 21-15 Wong/Wong would find their groove and take the next two games 21-10, 21-12 to take home the bronze medal.
Melissa Roque and Mahdi Ahmadi (TKU) repeated as CCAA gold medalists after defeating the duo of Jack Ronahan and Catherine Choi (Humber) 19-21, 22-20, 21-16 in match that had fans on the edge of their seats and standing and cheering after each point.
Women's Doubles
In the women's doubles bronze medal match the duo of Fiona Hawkes-Purdy and Caitlin McCavour (DAL) fell at the hands of Ella Dolan and Jenna Wong (NAIT) 21-13, 21-11.
The gold medal match was another fan favourite that went three games. After falling behind in the first game and losing it 15-21 the pair of Nana Amnutkkittikul and Arhcelle Ouana (SAIT) bounced back to take the next two games 21-15, 21-14 to win the 2026 CCAA women's doubles gold medal over Shruti Joshi and Sherry Wu (Humber).
Men's Doubles
The CUE duo of Raphael Motel and Jonathan Su defeated Thao Le and Ty Nguyen (Fanshawe College) in straight games 21-12, 21-7 to earn the bronze medal.
Keeping with the trend of today's gold medal matches, the team that lost the first game fought back to win the next two games to be named gold medalists. Ethan Lee and Matthew Wong (NAIT) lost their first game 13-21, but dug deep to win the next two games 21-13, 21-12 versus Bosco Lai and Jordan Lau (Seneca).
Women's Singles
Samantha Tran of NAIT is the 2026 CCAA bronze medal winner for women's singles after she defeated Chincco Lai of Seneca Polytechnic 21-14, 21-17.
Ritu Shah's (UKC) pursuit of a fourth straight CCAA gold medal in women's singles came to a halt as she was defeated 21-7, 21-7 at the hand of Rachel Chan (Humber).
Men's Singles
Mono Suttinon (SAIT) is your 2026 CCAA bronze medalist. After winner the first game 21-12, his opponent Vaibhav Bhatta (UNBSJ) withdrew due to injury with Suttinon up 3-0.
