LONDON, Ont. - The Fanshawe men's baseball team hosted the St. Clair Saints on Saturday night in their season opener. St. Clair took the first game by a final score of 10-0 and the second 4-2.
In the opening game, Fanshawe's first hit of the season belonged to first baseman Bryan Hames, who finished the game 1-for-2. St. Clair's pitcher Kyle Breitner pitched a complete game three-hitter, with four strikeouts.
In Game 2, the Saints got on the board first, putting up two runs in the opening inning. In the second inning, Fanshawe's Cam Cook scored the first run of the season on a sacrifice fly by Tyson Patrick to cut St. Clair's lead to one. Mike Ambrose's fifth inning single tied the game at two, bringing home Carlos Arteaja.
Falcons starting pitcher Braeden Ferrington threw five scoreless innings after giving up two runs in the first. The game remained tied going into the final inning, however Fanshawe fell short, giving up two runs in the seventh.
The Fanshawe Falcons next game will take place Friday, Sept. 18 at Labatt Park. They will host the Humber Hawks in a doubleheader, with game times at 5 p.m. and 7 p.m.

LONDON, Ont. - The St. Clair College men's baseball team defeated Fanshawe College 10-0 in a six-inning mercy to open the OCAA Season Saturday night at London's Labatt Park and then swept the doubleheader with a 4-2 victory in the night cap.
The Saints host Humber College (Etobicoke) on Saturday in their home opener at Lacasse Park in Tecumseh for a doubleheader. Game times are 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. They complete the home weekend with a doubleheader on Sunday against Durham College (Oshawa) with game times of 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.
