BUNTROCK HEADLINES OCAA MEN'S BASEBALL AWARDS
Logan Buntrock (Sarnia) of Lambton College is the 2025 Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) Men's Baseball Player of the Year.
TORONTO — Logan Buntrock (Sarnia) of Lambton College is the 2025 Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) Men's Baseball Player of the Year.
The third-year outfielder was among the leaders in several offensive categories this season, leading the OCAA in hits (27), runs (22) and stolen bases (17). Buntrock's .443 batting average and .528 on-base percentage were also in the Top 5. Buntrock's speed is a huge asset for the Lions both on the base paths and when patrolling centre-field. Buntrock also headlines the OCAA League First-Team All-Stars.
Lambton teammate Jeryn Shortt (Simcoe) is the OCAA Rookie of the Year. Shortt is a force on the mound and at the plate. Shortt produced a slash line of .481/.500/.778, contributing 14 RBI and nine runs scored. From the mound, Shortt had a 0.90 ERA in 23.1 innings of work, striking out a team-high 27 batters. Also named to the OCAA League First-Team All-Stars, Shortt headlines the OCAA All-Rookie Team.
Allan Bezaire of Lambton is the OCAA Coach of the Year. The Lions went wire-to-wire in winning their first-ever OCAA regular season championship. Lambton's offence was at the top in almost every offensive category while adding three rookies to the every day starting lineup. The same can be said for Lambton's pitching staff as they are also among the league leaders in almost every pitching category.
Matt Jones (Whitby) of Durham College is the OCAA Pitcher of the Year. The first-year left-hander is an elite hurler with outstanding command, stuff and composure. Jones went 4-1 with a 1.88 ERA, striking out 35 batters in 26 innings of work. Jones joins Shortt as a member of both the OCAA League First-Team All-Stars and OCAA All-Rookie Team.
Lambton's Myles Adamson (London) is the OCAA Batting Champion. The first-year player won a tight batting title chase with a .444 average. Adamson also led the OCAA with a .545 on-base and .722 slugging percentage. Adamson joins Shortt and Jones as a member of both the OCAA League First-Team All-Stars and OCAA All-Rookie Team.
Joining Buntrock, Shortt, Jones and Adamson as OCAA League First-Team All-Stars are Eddie Borutskie (Newtonville) of Durham; William Baltrusiunas (Fonthill), Jud McGowan (Lakefield) and Marcus Normandin (Mississauga) of Fanshawe College; Xavier Whittle (Oakville) of Humber Polytechnic; and Wesley Brooks (Sarnia) and Kale Murray (Mitchell) of Lambton.
Named OCAA League Second-Team All-Stars are Malik James (Whitby) and Erik Smith (Whitby) of Durham; Holden Heipel (Clinton) and Connor Rodwin (Burlington) of Fanshawe; Jack St. Louis (Mississauga) and Lee Grey (Woodbridge) of Humber; Kanaan Gale (Leamington), Brady Knelsen (Leamington) and Mitch McCosh (Belle River) of St. Clair College; and Tyler Barbier (Brampton) and Caymo Ghannie (Brampton) of Sheridan College.
In addition to Shortt, Jones and Adamson, Fanshawe's McGowan and Humber's Grey are members of the OCAA All-Rookie Team.
