ST. CLAIR 3, SENECA 1 (FINAL - 7 INNINGS)
The St. Clair College Women's Fastball team moved their record to 7-1 in the OCAA League with a split over Seneca (3-1) at Mic Mac Park earlier today.
Overnight rains forced a delay by two hours and may have played a part in St. Clair's sluggish start defensivley in game 1 of the doubleheader. The Saints committed 5 costly errors in a game where they held the lead early on in the contest. Melissa Bowyer (Windsor/Holy Names) suffered her first loss of the season in a complete game but struck out 6 while giving up 3 earned runs. Lisa Ternosky (Windsor/Assumption) led St. Clair offensively going 3 for 4 with an RBI and a run scored.
A much better effort in this game saw St. Clair batter Seneca's pitcher with 14 hits but stranded 10 runners. Bowyer pitched both ends of the doubleheader for St. Clair and gave up only 5 hits while striking out 5 for the win. Ternosky led the Saints offensively again matching her hit total from the first game with 3 hits adding an RBI. Trisha Whaley (Chatham) had a pair of hits also adding an RBI for St. Clair.
