DURHAM 12, MOHAWK 0 (FINAL - 5 INNINGS)
OSHAWA, Ont. – The Durham College women's fastball team made it eight straight conference wins on Thursday night as they swept their doubleheader against Mohawk College in OCAA women's fastball action.
The Lords defeated the Mountaineers by scores of 12-0 and 11-4 at Durham Field.
Kristine Miles (Whitby, Ont.) pitched a complete game shutout in game one, allowing two Mohawk hits while recording seven strikeouts.
Janna Hagan (Sherwood Park, Alta.), who was a national championship all-star last weekend, went 3-for-3 with three runs and three RBI's. Kristin Servinis (Whitby, Ont.) also had three hits while scoring twice.
In game two, Mohawk would score four runs but failed to shut down the Lords offence who put 11 runs on the board.
Servinis, Hagan, Jessica Pike (Whitby, Ont.) and Brittany Bell (New Hamburg, Ont.) all had two hits in the win.
Shannon Galea recorded the win on the mound, her fourth of the year. However, this was the first time Galea had allowed a run in conference play.
With two games remaining, Hagan leads the OCAA in batting this season with a .576 average.
Although the Lords are 8-0 on the season, the regular season pennant is still up for grabs as they host the St. Clair Saints (7-1) on Saturday, October 15 for a doubleheader. First pitch is at 11 a.m.
