HUMBER 22, SENECA 1
The Humber Hawks entered Newnham Campus Field Tuesday night and were exactly as advertised. The Hawks swung aggressively at rookie pitcher Liz Curley and hit the ball all over the park for five innings. The score may have been worse had it not been for centre fielder Shannon Gould making three great catches to leave runners on base.
Humber got the action rolling with a leadoff, infield single by Jacquilin O'Quinn. She would score off a hard liner by Kelsey Bardy over the shortstop to the fence. Bardy would eventually leg out a triple before scoring on an RBI single through the gap by Shelby Robblee. The Hawks would add a third run on an error to third before scoring their final run of the inning to lead 4-0.
In the second inning, Humber would add six more runs. They looked to make it even more, but Sting catcher Natalie Chiarotto threw out the Hawk runner at second. Humber would go on to add two more runs in each of the next two before adding eight in the fifth.
The star of the game was Jess O'Quinn who threw a no hitter in five innings while striking out three. The lone Sting run was unearned. Jacquiline O'Quinn had four hits for the Hawks while Jess O'Quinn had three triples, a single and six RBIs.
