HUMBER 12, ST. CLAIR 3
NORTH YORK, Ont. - In only their second season of fastball in the OCAA, the Humber Hawks have quickly put themselves in position to claim an OCAA championship. The Hawks dominated the St. Clair Saints Friday afternoon at Newnham Field to set up a showdown with Durham College for the right to move onto the gold medal game.
St. Clair opened the game with a run in the first inning. OCAA all-star Alexa Georgiou showed off her power with a towering shot over the fence in left centre field. It was the first home run hit in a game over the new fence at Seneca College.
Humber answered in the second with a pair of runs by Shelby Robblee and Natalie Stoberman. Robblee led off with a single and moved to second on a sacrifice. She would score on an RBI triple by Stoberman to even the game. Stoberman scored on a single by Jess Raymond.
St. Clair evened the game in the third, but the Hawks quickly took the lead back with three runs in the inning. Kelsey Bardy, Jessica O'Quinn and Olivia Crossley all touched home. Stoberman had the only RBI of the inning on a double to centre.
The Hawks would add another three runs in the fourth off the bat of Bardy. With the bases loaded, Bardy hit a double to give her team a 8-2 lead.
The Saints answered with one run in the fifth before Humber exploded for four more runs in the bottom of the sixth to complete the scoring.
