25 - Number of curling teams representing 11
schools set to compete at the OCAA curling championships hosted by
Sault College beginning Thursday in Sault Ste. Marie, Ont. The most
hotly contested title will be the women's championship, with 10
teams competing. Teams will compete in men's and mixed competitions
as well.
3 - Number of sets of siblings that will compete
at the upcoming OCAA badminton championships hosted by Redeemer
University College beginning next Friday in Ancaster, Ont. Sisters
Julie and Janelle Koopmans
(Chatham, Ont.) will represent host Redeemer, while
Renee and her brother Simon Yip
(Markham, Ont.) will compete for defending champion Humber. So will
Tracy Wong (Richmond Hill, Ont.), with her brother
Mark playing for George Brown.
24.7 - Average number of points scored per game by
Sheridan fourth-year guard Nakia Arthur (Brampton,
Ont.). With 346 total points and four games remaining, Arthur is on
pace to break the all-time OCAA women's basketball single season
record of 433 points set by St. Clair's Debbie
Cowgill during the 1979-80 season.
48 - Number of three-point field goals scored by
Fleming-Peterborough second-year guard Kelly
Killoran (Sarnia, Ont.) to set a new OCAA women's
basketball single season record. The old record of 45 was set by
Loyalist's Sara Maybee in 2008-09. Hot on
Killoran's trail is Sheridan's Nakia Arthur who
has scored 43 times beyond the arc. Killoran has two games
remaining.
2 - Number of times Humber third-year right side
Terrel Bramwell (Mississauga, Ont.) has earned 40
points in an OCAA men's volleyball match. No other OCAA
student-athlete has hit the 40-point plateau since volleyball
changed its rules in 1999. Bramwell is the OCAA leader in points
per set averaging 7.0.
21 - Combined number of wins of Humber (11-2) and
Sheridan (10-4) in OCAA men's basketball. Algoma (12-3) visits both
teams this weekend with first (and second) place in the OCAA West
region on the line. The top two teams earned automatic berths into
the OCAA men's basketball championship at Algonquin College next
month.
70 - Number of stuff blocks by Durham fifth-year
middle David McMann (Elmvale, Ont.) to set a new
single season record in OCAA men's volleyball. The previous record
of 69 was set by Seneca's Kanitha Boranprasit and
Humber's Carter Walls during the 2000-01 season,
and later tied by St. Clair's Corey Cole in
2009-10.
0 - Number of losses by Cambrian and Humber
entering the final week of the OCAA women's volleyball regular
season. Cambrian has one game remaining at home against Seneca on
Sunday, while Humber hosts Sheridan on Friday then visits Niagara
on Wednesday.
