TORONTO - The following have been named Ontario Colleges
Athletic Association (OCAA) Teams of the Week for the period ending
Sunday, March 11.
Humber Men's Volleyball
The Humber Hawks did something no other OCAA team has accomplished
in 28 seasons. Humber won its first-ever Canadian Collegiate
Athletic Association (CCAA) Men's Volleyball National Championship
at Columbia Bible College in Abbotsford, B.C. CCAA and OCAA men's
volleyball player of the year Terrel Bramwell
(Mississauga, Ont.) was named tournament MVP, while Andre
Brown (Mississauga, Ont.) and Aleks
Inveiss (Toronto) were both named tournament first-team
all-stars.
Humber Women's Volleyball
Humber completed its best campaign in six years, finishing in
fourth place at the CCAA Women's Volleyball National Championship
at Vancouver Island University in Nanaimo, B.C. Humber fell just
short of its first-ever CCAA medal, losing the bronze medal match
3-1 (25-23, 25-23, 19-25, 25-18) to the UFV Cascades, a team the
Hawks defeated in the quarter-finals. Michelle
Overzet (Brampton, Ont.) and Nina Carino
(Scarborough, Ont.) were named tournament first- and second-team
all-stars, respectively.
