ALGONQUIN 2011-12 ATHLETIC AWARDS
OTTAWA - The Algonquin College Athletics Department held its annual awards banquet Thursday evening and it was Sandre Bascoe (women's basketball) and Josh Harris (men's volleyball) who received top honours.
OTTAWA - The Algonquin College Athletics Department held its
annual awards banquet Thursday evening and it was Sandre Bascoe
(women's basketball) and Josh Harris (men's volleyball) who
received top honours.
Sandre Bascoe led the Thunder women's basketball
team to consecutive OCAA basketball titles with 16.1 points per
game average and shooting over 50 percent from the floor. Bascoe
was named OCAA women's basketball player of the year and a CCAA
all-Canadian recipient. At the OCAA championships, Bascoe received
the championship tournament MVP award.
Josh Harris, fifth-year outside hitter, powered
the Algonquin men's volleyball team to the East Division title with
a 19-1 regular season record. Harris was second in the East
Division with 43 serve aces and was selected an East Division
first-team all-star.
The Most Valuable Player and Rookie of the Year Awards were also
presented as follows:
