SAULT COLLEGE 2012-13 ATHLETIC AWARDS

SAULT STE. MARIE, Ont. - On Wednesday evening Sault College Athletics hosted their annual Athletic Awards Night at the Marconi Club in celebration of another great year in collegiate sport. A crowd of over 200 was in attendance to honour all the contributors that make Cougar Athletics a vibrant part of the Sault College community fabric.

The evening saw the Cougars pay tribute to their successes for the year, including:

OCAA Silver Medal - Women's Cross Country / 5th CCAA Nationals
OCAA Silver Medal - Mixed Curling
OCAA Bronze Medal - Men's Curling / 5th CCAA Nationals
Humber Cup Champions - Men's Hockey
WHL Regular Season Champions - Women's Hockey
Cheer Evolution Nationals Bronze Medal - Cheerleading

The night was highlighted recognizing 5 OCAA All-Stars and 16 OCAA All-Academic Team Award recipients.

Brandon Shepherd (Ajax, Ont. / Aviation) - Men's Hockey

Cougar Pride Award
Amanda Allen (Bomanville, Ont. / Fitness & Health) - Cross Country
Danny MacDonald (Sault Ste. Marie / Police Foundations) - Men's Basketball

Gerry Mcguire Award
Aislyn Ireton (Perth, Ont. / BSCN) - Cross Country, Curling, Cheerleading
Dujuon Brown (Rexdale, Ont. / General Arts) - Men's Basketball

Club Athlete of the Year
Caitlyn Nelson (Sault Ste. Marie / Peace & Conflict) - Cheerleading
Josh Michano (Marathon, Ont. / Fish & Wildlife) - Men's Hockey

Female Athlete of the Year
Erin Mallinger (Sault Ste. Marie / BSCN) - Cross Country

Ross Bachert Male Athlete of the Year
Ryan Schnurr (Hamilton, Ont. / Aviation) - Curling
