Shaquille Agard
School: George Brown
Program: Electromechanical Engineering
Year of Eligibility: 5
Sport: Men's Indoor Soccer
Hometown: Toronto, Ont.
Agard was named Championship MVP for the second time as George Brown captured its second provincial title in three seasons while medalling for a fifth consecutive season. The fifth-year Toronto native capped his incredible George Brown career by scoring the game-winning goal in a 1-0 semifinal win over UTM, and following that up with the lone goal of the gold medal match against Fanshawe on Mar. 22. Always among the most dangerous strikers in the province, Agard's time with the Huskies will remain etched in the program's history books.
Markian Krencil
School: Toronto Mississauga
Program: Chemical & Physical Sciences
Year of Eligibility: 2
Sport: Men's Indoor Soccer
Hometown: Mississauga, Ont.
Krencil was named a Championship All-Star at provincials. He played a supporting role in leading the UTM Eagles to a second consecutive bronze medal with an overall record of 3-1-1 at the competition. Toronto Mississauga finished the round robin in first place in Pool A with an undefeated mark of 2-0-1, edging Conestoga 3-2 and Mohawk 1-0 while tying Sheridan 3-3. UTM missed out on its chance to advance to the gold medal match losing 1-0 to its semifinal opponent and eventual champion George Brown. In a rematch with Sheridan in the bronze medal match, UTM prevailed 2-0.
Sabrina Mariani
School: Mohawk
Program: Police Foundations
Year of Eligibility: 2
Sport: Women's Indoor Soccer
Hometown: Guelph, Ont.
Mariani was named a Championship All-Star at provincials. The second-year goalkeeper was the last line of defence for Mohawk, as she recorded three clean sheets at the championship en route to the Mountaineers winning bronze. Overall, Mohawk was 3-2 at the competition. Mohawk's 1-0 victory over St. Clair in the bronze medal match gave the Mountaineers their first women's indoor soccer medal since 2006, and second medal overall. Mariani was honoured last October as an OCAA West Division All-Star in women's outdoor soccer.
Claudia Piazza
School: Humber
Program: Psychology
Year of Eligibility: 4
Sport: Women's Indoor Soccer
Hometown: Brampton, Ont.
Piazza was named Championship MVP as Humber won its third consecutive OCAA women's indoor soccer championship, tying its own conference record. The fourth-year veteran scored a pair of goals in the second half as Humber downed Fanshawe 4-2 in the gold medal match. Earlier in the day, Piazza scored two goals against Mohawk in a 3-1 semifinal victory. Overall, Humber went 4-0-1 in the competition. Last autumn, Piazza was honoured as both an OCAA Central Division All-Star and Championship All-Star in women's outdoor soccer.
Kaitlyn Poirier
School: Fanshawe
Program: Chemical Lab Technician
Year of Eligibility: 5
Sport: Curling
Hometown: Sioux Lookout, Ont.
Poirier was named a Championship Second-Team All-Star at curling nationals held in Fredericton, N.B. The fifth-year skip and her Fanshawe teammates dropped a close 5-4 bronze medal contest in extra ends against Augustana to finish fourth overall, ending Fanshawe's consecutive national medal streak at four. The Falcons had a five-game winning streak during round robin play, eventually going 5-2. The reigning national champions conceded a 11-2 decision to Douglas in the semifinals before losing to Augustana in the finale.
Charlie Richard
School: Fanshawe
Program: Business Human Resources
Year of Eligibility: 4
Sport: Curling
Hometown: Woodstock, Ont.
Richard was named a Championship First-Team All-Star at curling nationals held in Fredericton, N.B., where Fanshawe finished fourth in Canada. The fourth-year skip and his Falcons teammates won six straight times during the round robin after an opening 5-3 loss to Lakeland. Fanshawe ran into familiar foes in the semifinals, losing 7-5 to the eventual silver medalist Humber Hawks. The Falcons then conceded a 9-5 decision to NAIT in the bronze medal final. It is the first time since 2016 that Fanshawe left nationals without a men's medal.
