OCAA STARS OF THE WEEK
TORONTO - The following student-athletes have been recognized by the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) for their accomplishments during the seven-day period ending Sunday, Sept. 16th.
Alessandro Vivolo
School: Algonquin College
Program: Bachelor of Commerce
Year of Eligibility: 3
Sport: Soccer
Hometown: Ottawa, Ont.
The Wolves stayed perfect this past week, picking up two more wins to move to 4-0 on the season. Third-year right wing Alessandro Vivolo has been an offensive spark early on, leading the charge for Ottawa. On Wednesday, September 10, Vivolo electrified a packed home crowd by scoring twice in a commanding 5-0 win over St. Lawrence. He carried that momentum into Sunday, September 14, netting two more goals in a 5-1 road victory against George Brown. With four games in the books, Vivolo sits atop the OCAA leaderboard in both goals and points.
Madison Rodriquez
School: Mohawk College
Program: Mechanical Techniques (Welding & Fabrication)
Year of Eligibility: 1
Sport: Soccer
Hometown: Hamilton, On.
Madison Rodriguez made a statement in Mohawk’s home opener, powering the Mountaineers to a 1-0 win over the Redeemer Royals on Friday night. The first-year standout delivered a sensational free kick from 32 yards out, curling the ball just under the crossbar and beyond the reach of the Royals’ keeper. The strike marked her first career OCAA goal. Rodriguez carried that momentum into Sunday’s match, adding an assist in Mohawk’s hard-fought 3-3 draw against the Fanshawe Falcons.
Bryden Dilley
School: Georgian College
Program: Gold Industry Management
Year of Eligibility: 4
Sport: Golf
Hometown: Barrie, On.
Bryden opened the OCAA fall schedule with a win at the St. Clair Invitational, held at the prestigious Ambassador Golf Club in Windsor. After carding a 77 on Day 1, Bryden came roaring back with a final-round 72 to claim the title with a two-day total of 149. The victory builds on an impressive resume. Bryden captured an OCAA bronze medal at last year’s championship.
Michael McCullough
School: Humber College
Program: Sport Management
Year of Eligibility: 4
Sport: Golf
Hometown: Toronto, On.
McCullough opened the OCAA fall schedule dominantly, capturing the St. Clair Invitational title at the renowned Ambassador Golf Club in Windsor. From the first tee to the final putt, he showcased poise, consistency, and clutch play, setting the tone for what promises to be an exciting season ahead. With this victory, McCullough establishes himself as an early contender to watch on the OCAA circuit.
Jeryn Shortt
School: Lambton College
Program: Sport and Recreation Management
Year of Eligibility: 1
Sport: Baseball
Hometown: Simcoe, On.
The rookie from Simcoe did it all this week, powering the Lions to a perfect 3-0 run and a 5-0 start to the season. Shortt announced his arrival in style on the road against the defending champion St. Clair Saints, tossing a one-hitter in his first career OCAA start and striking out 11 in a 4-0 victory. Over the weekend, he showcased his two-way talent again, blasting a go-ahead three-run homer in the sixth inning against Humber before taking the mound in the seventh to lock down the save in an 8-7 win. On Sunday, he stayed hot at the plate, crushing his second home run in as many days to help lift the Lions past Durham, 6-1. For the week, Shortt fanned 12 batters and posted a flawless 0.00 ERA, while hitting .364 with two home runs, five RBIs, and four runs scored.

Untouchable. Unstoppable. What a week on the mound for DC’s ace, delivering two shutout wins, including a no-hitter against the Fanshawe Falcons! She was locked in from the first pitch, racking up 14 strikeouts while allowing just one hit across 8 dominant innings.

Isabella McPhee

Program: Kinesiology

Sport: Rugby Sevens

The Hawks are off to a flying start, and Isabelle McPhee is leading the charge. McPhee made a statement on opening day, powering the Hawks to three straight wins to kick off the season. She was unstoppable on the attack, crossing the line for three tries and setting the tone for a dominant team performance. With momentum on their side and McPhee in top form, the Hawks are soaring into the season.
Devonne Henry
School: Durham College
Program: General Arts and Science
Year of Eligibility: 1
Sport: Rugby
Hometown: Whitby, On.
Devonne Henry wasted no time making his presence felt in his first game with the Lords, putting on a show to lead the team past the Sheridan Bruins. Henry was unstoppable on the attack, powering through defenders for 2 tries and calmly slotting 2 conversions to cap off an electric debut performance. His energy and impact set the tone for the squad, sparking excitement for what’s to come this season. The future is bright, and it’s just getting started.
