Student-athletes are nominated by their respective athletic departments.
Ashlee LaForme
School: Mohawk
Program: Educational Support
Year of Eligibility: 3
Sport: Softball
Hometown: New Credit, Ont.
Ashlee LaForme had a standout week at the plate and in the pitching circle. Ashlee swatted a home run — a career-first — in a 3-2 win over the Conestoga Condors on Sept. 28, finishing with a .429 average over four games, with six hits, five runs scored and one RBI. In that same victory, the third-year player threw a complete game, allowing two runs and striking out a pair, earning the win. LaForme also appeared in relief in Game 2 against the Condors, working 1.1 innings while giving up one hit and striking out one.
Trevor Loebach
School: Fanshawe
Program: General Arts & Science
Year of Eligibility: 4
Sport: Baseball
Hometown: St. Thomas, Ont.
Trevor Loebach knew the assignment. In a weekend tripleheader against the Sault Cougars, the Fanshawe leadoff hitter got on base nine times, helping the Falcons win two of three games on Sept. 27 and 28. Loebach went 6-for-11 with three walks, a double, seven stolen bases, six runs and four RBI. Loebach leads the OCAA on a perfect 14-for-14 in stolen bases. The Falcons are the first to reach 10 wins in 2025, already improving on their eight-win total all of last season and securing a spot at next month's OCAA championship.
Cooper Markou
School: Humber
Program: Sport Management
Year of Eligibility: 3
Sport: Rugby
Hometown: Mississauga, Ont.
Cooper Markou was named the man of the match in Humber's 22-19 victory over the Georgian Grizzlies on Sept. 27. The third-year fly recorded two tries for the Hawks, including the game-winner with time running out. Through three matches, Cooper is leading the squad with four tries and the Hawks have won 10 straight matches dating back to the beginning of last season. With identical 3-0 records, Humber is currently tied with the Durham Lords atop the OCAA standings, with a meeting between the clubs scheduled for Oct. 18.
Jordon Newlands
School: Humber
Program: Professional Golf Management
Year of Eligibility: 3
Sport: Golf
Hometown: Toronto, Ont.
Jordon Newlands finished one stroke behind Humber teammate and overall winner Susan Chen at the Georgian Invitational at Heritage Hills Golf Club in Shanty Bay on Sept. 25, shooting a 76. Newlands and Chen's efforts were more than enough to lift the Humber Hawks to the women's team title with a combined total of 151. A former OCAA bronze and reigning national silver medalist, Jordon aims to return to the provincial podium this week at the 2025 OCAA Golf Championships taking place at Watson's Glen Golf Club in Pickering.
Barrett Potter
School: Durham
Program: Journalism - Mass Media
Year of Eligibility: 2
Sport: Golf
Hometown: Whitby, Ont.
Barrett Potter finished on the leaderboard in a pair of lead-in events to the OCAA Golf Championships. Barrett shot a 37 in an abbreviated round at Watson's Glen Golf Club in Pickering on Sept. 22, one stroke behind the leaders. The Durham Lords men's team finished in a tie for first place on their home course. Barrett then fired a 69 at Heritage Hills Golf Club in Shanty Bay on Sept. 25, also one shot behind the winner. Barrett now looks to improve on a Top 25 finish at last year's OCAA provincials, as Durham plays host to the 2025 edition this week.
Luca Romano
School: Conestoga
Program: Electrical Engineering Technology
Year of Eligibility: 4
Sport: Soccer
Hometown: Kitchener, Ont.
Luca Romano was clinical, scoring a first-half hat trick for the Conestoga Condors against the Mohawk Mountaineers on Sept. 27. With pinpoint delivery from teammates Matteo Grant and Marko Lesic, Luca put the Condors in a strong position at the break. Conestoga would go on to a 4-0 victory, its fifth of the regular season. Luca's movement and positioning to find space in the box and composed finishes were a pleasure to watch. The Condors are still in the hunt for a West Division title with four matches coming up in October.
Kendra Sieders
School: Redeemer
Program: Social Work
Year of Eligibility: 4
Sport: Soccer
Hometown: Lynden, Ont.
Kendra Sieders has been a key member of the Royals since arriving on campus. The dynamic midfielder has stepped into a larger role this season and has delivered. Kendra scored Redeemer's lone goal to notch its first win of the season, 1-0 over Conestoga on Sept. 24. The Redeemer victory was crucial for its playoff outlook and taking down a top four team in the West Division is a major statement. Kendra and the Royals followed it up by taking down the Lambton 4-0 on Sept. 27, where Kendra found the back of the net once again.
