NIAGARA 111, FANSHAWE 80 (FINAL)
The Niagara College Knights men's basketball (3-1) team put in a solid team effort to come away with a 111-80 win over the Fanshawe College Falcons (2-2) on Niagara College Alumni Day on Saturday at the new Athletic Centre.
The Knights jumped out to a 31-9 lead after the first quarter and never looked back, shooting an impressive 40-of-71 (56.3 percent) from the field and 16-of-33 (48.5 percent) from behind the three-point line. Four of the five Knights' starters reached double-digits in scoring with Jimmy Bilenga (Hamilton, Ont.) topping all scorers with 26 points including 4-of-8 from behind the arc.
Alex Campbell (Brampton, Ont.) had 25 points, while Marako Lundy (Nassau, Bahamas) and Ashton Stephenson (Brampton, Ont.) had 24 and 17 points respectively. Josh Loehle (Cambridge, Ont.) contributed with 10 points off the bench, while Rashad Morley (Nassau, Bahamas) had a big game defensively grabbing 15 rebounds to go along with his five blocks.
Niagara's next home game is on Tuesday, November 15 when they face the Seneca College Sting in an exhibition game at 8 p.m.
The Knights will return to league play on Saturday, November 19 at 4:00pm with a road game against the Lambton College Lions (2-2) in Sarnia. The next day, the Knights are in Windsor for a 3 p.m. game against the St. Clair Saints (1-3).
