NIAGARA 87, ALGOMA 81 (FINAL - OT)
The Niagara College Knights men's basketball team (2-0) made a dramatic comeback in an 87-81 overtime victory against the Algoma University Thunderbirds (1-1) on Sunday night.
The Knights, who trailed by as much as 20 points in the third quarter, mounted a huge run to tie the game 77-77 at the end of regulation.
In overtime, it was all Knights, as the team went on a 10-4 run to complete the comeback.
Second-year forward Rashad Morley (Nassau, Bahamas) had a strong performance and led the Knights with 26 points, nine rebounds, and six blocked shots.
Alex Campbell (Brampton, Ont.) and Jimmy Bilenga (Hamilton, Ont.) contributed with 18 and 17 points respectively.
First-year guard Marako Lundy (Nassau, Bahamas) came off the bench to score 16 points in 26 minutes of playing time. He shot an impressive 6-of-7 from the field including 3-of-3 from behind the arc.
"It was a very exciting game and a great comeback," said head coach Steve Atkin. "We showed a lot of character to come back from a deficit of 20 points in the third quarter," he added.
The Knights are back in action Wednesday night when they travel to Hamilton to take on the Mohawk College Mountaineers. Tip off time is 6 p.m.
On Saturday, the Knights will return home for an 8 p.m. game against the Fanshawe College Falcons. It is Niagara College Alumni Night, where all former Knights Basketball players are encouraged to come out and support the newest members of Knights Basketball.
