The Mohawk Mountaineers, who have not won a gold medal in OCAA men's basketball in exactly 40 years, will get a chance to do so Saturday (March 3) in Ottawa. But they will also have their hands full as they take on the three time defending champion Humber Hawks in the title match at Algonquin College.
The Mountaineers jumped into a 9-2 lead and controlled the entire game en route to a 96-61 semi final victory over the Georgian Grizzlies of Barrie in semi final play Friday. Manny Campbell was player of the game for Mohawk.
The Hawks advanced with an 82-61 decision over the Algoma Thunderbirds.
The gold medal match is scheduled to start at 6 p.m.
