CENTENNIAL 81, DURHAM 61
OSHAWA, Ont. – The Durham College men's basketball team dropped an 81-61 decision to the nationally ranked Centennial Colts on Tuesday night at the Campus Recreation and Wellness Centre.
Despite shooting a respectable 44.6 percent from the field, the Lords lacked the defensive play desired to overcome a tough Centennial team who improved to 10-2 on the year. The Lords allowed Centennial to shoot 51.7 percent including a three-point percentage of 57.9.
The noticeable size differential with the Colts having the upper hand proved to be the difference as the Colts outrebounded the Lords by a 38-26 margin. Although Durham showed flashes of playing quality basketball at times, there inconsistencies inevitably caught up to them.
Individual highlights for Durham included Randy Osei and Anthony Ottley, both of Brampton, who had 20 and 17 points respectively.
For the Colts, Natiel Mckenzie of Pickering shot 4-for-7 from behind the arc and finished with 14 points while Terrence Nelson of Toronto had nine rebounds.
Durham's next home game is Saturday, January 19 against the Algonquin Thunder at 3 p.m.
