LONDON, Ont. - The Fanshawe men's basketball team (2-0) defended home court again and defeated the Cambrian Golden Shield (0-2) by a final score of 72-48.
Fanshawe led from the start of the game and closed out the first quarter with a 9-0 run to take a 22-8 lead into the second quarter. Cambrian played tighter defence and caused more turnovers for the Falcons in the second. At the half, the Falcons lead remained at 14 and Trey Langford led all players with eight points.
Two three-pointers by Cambrian's Chance Goulet cut the lead to single digits but another large Fanshawe run pushed the lead to 30. Cambrian tried to come back in the fourth, cutting the lead to 22 but Fanshawe prevailed with a final score of 72-48.
A balanced attack from Fanshawe had 10 different players score, with Alex Thompson and Chris Stanhope leading the way with 11 each. Cambrian's Chance Goulet finished with a team-high 11 points.
Fanshawe's next match takes place at Niagara College versus the Knights (0-1). The game takes place on Friday, Nov. 1 at 8 p.m.
