CANADORE 77, LOYALIST 63
NORTH BAY, Ont. - The Canadore Panthers men's varsity basketball team got their momentum back as they defeated the Loyalist Lancers in a very physical home game today at the Education Centre gymnasium.
The Panthers put a lot of offensive pressure on the ball today, which was their key to success, allowing them to set the pace and play their own game. By the end of the game, the Lancers not only had three players fouled out of the game, but they also had two players with four fouls each. The Panthers found themselves in a similar situation with Joey Puddister fouled out and another four players with four fouls a piece.
Canadore head coach Stacy Gallagher says, "The guys really played to what I wanted them to do and they believed in it and worked at it as a team. We got back to what we were doing in pre-season action, which was using the bench when it was needed, and it always kept fresh legs in the game."
Even with being fouled out on a technical call, Puddister managed to pick up the player of the game title with his 16-point game. He had some positive feedback on the game when he said, "We have to use this game as momentum and get on a winning streak, it's really important that we keep putting up solid defence and rebounding the ball well. We have to keep playing to our strengths and win these last two games before the Christmas break."
