DURHAM 77, SENECA 67
TORONTO - When the majority of a team's games are close, they are going to win some, and they are going to lose some.
That has been the theme through the first three weeks of the OCAA men's basketball season for the Seneca Sting.
The Sting found themselves in another nail-biter against the Durham Lords on Friday night, ultimately falling to the Lords 77-67 in a game that was closer than the score showed.
It was the fifth time this season that a Sting game reached the final minute with a single digit point differential (three have finished by three points). The Sting are now 3-2 in those games as their record fell to .500 on the season.
The Lords jumped out to a 21-10 lead after the first quarter before the Sting cut the lead to six at the half and five after three quarters.
In the fourth quarter, the Sting cut the lead to four points with just over four minutes remaining, but stalled offensively while the Lords made key free throws to close out the win.
Felix Adjei (Toronto) led the Sting with 24 points, three rebounds, three assists and three steals. Akeem Small (Toronto) added 10 points and a team-high eight rebounds. Jonathan Harvey (Pickering) matched a season-high with nine points.
Kur Ngong paced the Lords with 22 points along with eight rebounds. Darian Rowe contributed 20 points and five rebounds. Ajahmo Clarke scored 12 points and added a team-high eight rebounds while Aaron Hayles added 11 points and five rebounds.
The Sting hosts the Fleming Knights on Tuesday at 8 p.m. while the Lords are off for a week before welcoming the Georgian Grizzlies at 8 p.m.
