MOHAWK 75, ST. CLAIR 69
WINDSOR, Ont. - The St. Clair men's basketball team were downed 75-69 by Mohawk College (Hamilton, Ont.) Friday night at the SportsPlex in OCAA west region action.
After a good start the Saints led 21-10 heading to the second quarter and then managed to get the halftime locker room still ahead 35-30. However, Mohawk put together a sustained effort in the second half and led by as much 10 points in the fourth quarter.
St. Clair rallied to within 72-69 with a few minutes to play but Mohawk took advantage of some key turnovers to lock up the win. Mohawk had a decided advantage in points from the free throw line outscoring the Saints 20-8 from the stripe which proved to be the key stat.
Rookie players Lance Drummonds (Hamilton, Ont.) and Jordon Dixon-Keating (Orillia, Ont.) each scored 17 points to lead St. Clair. Fourth-year point guard Charles Baskin (Detroit, Mich.) also reached double figures scoring 11 points to go with three steals for the Saints.
Mohawk's Kareem Collins (Hamilton, Ont.) scored 20 points in the win.

WINDSOR, Ont. - Mohawk's two basketball teams came away with victories at St. Clair on Friday.
The men scored a 75-69 decision over the Saints. Kareem Collins led the Mountaineers with 20 points and five assists. OJ Watson had 18 points and nine rebounds, while Jeff Hunt scored 16 points and added seven rebounds.
The victory keeps Mohawk tied with Sheridan in the loss column as the teams jockey for playoff positions. The Mountaineers visit Lambton Saturday.
Meanwhile, the Mohawk women downed St. Clair 71-64. Stef Hrymak scored 20 points, had four assists and four steals. Careena Browne had 12 points and six boards and Shanien O'Neill added 11 points.
Now it's off to Sarnia, Ont., for a Saturday meeting with Lambton.
